Why Cape Verde |

In the last two or three years, there has been an influx of property and tourism investment in Cape Verde. Why is this? Will it continue? The reasons for Cape Verde's recent stunning growth are primarily due to a stable political and economic environment, and the recognition of it's stunning beach and sun climate. There aren't many places in the world where 12 months of sunshine combine with these factors, and the modest flight times from Europe have opened up Cape Verde to the world. So will it continue? We believe so. The island of Sal, which saw the first influx of flights, has struggled to accomodate the interest. There has been some overdevelopment which has far outstripped the islands infrastructure capabilities. Basically, there was next to nothing in Sal a few years ago. This will take time to reorganise, but it's beaches will surely drive future demand. The island of Sao Vicente will imminently open a new international airport, and having hosted Cape Verde's main deep sea port for over a century, the existing economy and infrastructure are well placed to accomodate an imminent growth in tourism for both this island and it's sister island Santo Antao, only 11km away and wild and verdant in a way reminiscent of "Jurassic Park" or "Lost". With an ever growing tourism sector, a fantastic diversity between islands, and let's face it... 12 months a year of beaches and blue skies, the right investments in Cape Verde will undoubtedly provide fantastic capital growth and rental income opportunities for many years to come. |
